An Essential Oil’s aroma “note” is the feature that distinguishes how long its scent will last. Notes are categorized as Top, Middle, or Base notes. To form a perfect blend, the three notes must be present and balanced in the optimal ratio.
Hyssop is the Top Note - it has the smallest molecules which are the most volatile and are the first to evaporate. Cassia & Cinnamon Bark are the Middle Notes. They reveal their scents gradually and help to integrate the Top and Base Notes.
The Base Note in the tHOli blend is the heaviest molecule and the slowest to evaporate - Spikenard. It's strong, provocative aroma remains for a longer time than the other notes, helping to reduce the rate of evaporation of the other oils in the blend.
Essential oils are organic compounds derived from aromatic plant sources such as roots, bark, flowers, leaves and seeds. They are extremely complex substances, with each oil typically containing several hundred individual chemicals. (more)
There are three families of chemical compounds found in Essential Oils. The Tholi Oil blend has all three: Monoterpenes, Sesquiterpenes and Phenols.
Independent studies have shown that the individual plant extracts used in the Tholi essential oil blend include properties that are antibacterial, antiseptic, antiviral, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, cell regenerative, antimicrobial and immuno-stimulant.
Cassia is classified as a phenol and acts as the middle note. In the Tholi Oil blend, it is the sweet & yummy scent that you smell! Its aroma is described as slightly wood, spicy and warm. Phenols clean out cell receptor sites to help restore cell communication for proper body function. It's been used to relieve nausea & cure diarrhea and offers relief from joint pain & headaches. Cassia has proven effective against viral infections. (more)
Cinnamon Bark is also a phenol and middle note acting with Cassia - both are considered "hot" oils that typically need to be partnered with other oils including carriers. Cinnamon has been known to combat type 2 diabetes. It is an antioxidant which means that it contains compounds responsible for protecting living cells against damage. It is used all over the world for respiratory problems and various heart disorders. It can boost brain function - it helps to remove nervous tension and memory loss. Cinnamon helps to remove blood impurities and can improve blood circulation due to the presence of a blood-thinning compound. (more)
Hyssop is classified as a monoterpene and is the top note that you perceive. Monoterpenes reprogram misinformation in the cellular memory to restore to original creation. Hyssop has been used as an astringent, stimulant, antiseptic, disinfectant, antimicrobial and antispasmodic to relieve coughs & spasms while also acting as an expectorant to loosen phlegm. It improves and promotes circulation and can help with rheumatism, arthritis, gout and swelling. (more)
Spikenard, the base note, is a sesquiterpene. These type of complex plant extracts are shown to erase bad information or code in the cells. It also helps to deliver oxygen to the cell to prevent diseases like cancer from growing. Its medicinal use is recorded in Homer's Iliad. It has been used to calm the mind, ease stress and mental fatigue. It is known for its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. It has a pleasant natural, mossy fragrance and can be used as a room deodorizer. Spikenard has sedative properties that calm down physical inflammation, relieves feelings of anxiety & feelings of restlessness and cardiac afflictions, such as heart palpitations. (more)
